PROJECT UPDATE 9-30-2019
New Project Contact
Mechelle Little is the new communications contact with MWHC and will serve as the liaison for neighbors with construction questions regarding the Hillcrest Project onsite construction. Her contact information is provided below.
Pipeline Work
The installation of the new pipeline that runs behind homes along South Hillcrest Drive is nearly complete. The remaining section of 40 feet of pipe will be completed in spring 2020 after other construction activities in the area are completed.
Construction Progress and Stockpile Update
During the demolition of the existing concrete storage tanks, asbestos boards were discovered in a small area of concrete supporting the foundation of one of the tanks. As a safety precaution, tank demolition, stockpile removal and backfill work were halted. The issue was immediately reported to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment. Denver Water and MWHC isolated and covered the area of concern in accordance with CDPHE containment standards. CDPHE has given its approval to move forward with our sampling plan to test the backfill areas around the tanks.
Denver Water and MWHC have conducted the asbestos sampling and are working with CDPHE to review the final sampling analysis. Pending the results of the sampling, we expect tank demolition and stockpile backfill work to resume in late October to early November.
General Construction Hours
General work hours are 7 a.m.-6 p.m., Monday-Friday. Saturday work has resumed to help offset project delays. Personnel will arrive at 7 a.m. and equipment use will begin after 8 a.m.
