Hillcrest Water Project update 10/31/19

PROJECT UPDATE 10-31-2019

Pipeline Work
The installation of the new pipeline that runs behind homes along South Hillcrest Drive is nearly complete. The remaining section, 40 feet of pipe, will be completed in spring 2020 after other construction activities in the area are completed.

Construction Progress and Stockpile Update
During the demolition of existing concrete storage tanks, asbestos was discovered in a small area of concrete supporting the foundation for one of the tanks. As a safety precaution, tank demolition, stockpile removal and backfill work were halted. The issue was immediately reported to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment. Denver Water and its contractor, MWH Constructors, isolated and covered the area of concern in accordance with state containment standards.

Denver Water and MWHC have conducted asbestos sampling and are working with CDPHE on the final sampling analysis.
Once analysis is complete, results will be shared in an upcoming newsletter. Construction activities including tank demolition and stockpile backfill work will also resume.

General Construction Hours
General work hours are 7 a.m.-6 p.m., Monday-Friday.

Saturday work has resumed to help offset project delays. Personnel will arrive at 7 a.m. and equipment use will begin after 8 a.m.
